Plenty to enjoy this weekend in Newbiggin and Ashington

Newbiggin Maritime Centre will open its doors to showcase a huge selection of exhibitions, workshops and events on Saturday, Sunday and Monday between 10am and 5pm.

They will include the Newbiggin Dolphin Watch group’s first exhibition, which features the best of the many sightings of the porpoises, Bottle Nose and White Beaked dolphins off Newbiggin this summer.

The Coble and Keelboat Society will exhibit their models and share their expertise of the fishing vessels.

In addition, the Breakwater Café will host a range of local musicians in a Festival Buskers Night on Sunday from 7pm.

In Ashington on Saturday, a fair and open day is being held at Station Court Care Home – run by Barchester Healthcare – from 11am.

Those who come along can have a look around the newly refurbished home.

The event will raise funds for the residents.

Ashington’s Civic Head, Coun Marjorie Chambers, will be among the guests attending.
