Police are appealing for information after a number of thefts from gardens in Bedlington Station.

Between Tuesday and yesterday, there has been four thefts reported to police where thieves have stolen items from people’s gardens in Hogarth Cottages, Bellingham Court and Alexandra Terrace. Hundreds of pounds worth of items have been taken including solar lights, a child’s swing, a parasol and a gas bottle.

In the early hours of yesterday morning, the occupants of an address in Belsay Grove disturbed two women and a man trying to steal their garden furniture. The thieves fled the scene empty-handed.

Inquiries are ongoing into the thefts and police believe they may be linked. Officers are appealing for information.

Neighbourhood Inspector Trevor Oakley said: “I’d ask that people keep an eye out for anything or anyone suspicious in their neighbourhoods overnight. If you see people hanging around or searching gardens then report it to police and we will respond and check it out. Make sure that anything of value is stored somewhere securely and that garages and doors are locked overnight.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact police in Bedlington on 101 ext 69191, quoting reference number 161 13/06/15.
