Police appeal for witnesses after phone theft in Ashington

A man had his mobile phone stolen in Ashington, after he fell to the ground because he was feeling unwell.

The incident happened at 10.15am on Tuesday, May 31, in Norham Road. The 34-year-old man who was feeling unwell fell over onto the ground when getting out of his car near a doctor's surgery. Another man came to his aid and helped him up. The 34-year-old later found his mobile phone had been stolen.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone who was in the area and who may have seen or heard anything suspicious is asked to contact police, by calling 101 and quoting reference number 048247A/16, or by ringing the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
