The warrants formed part of Operation Merlin – a project aiming to protect the most vulnerable in the community and provide help for residents who need it the most.

A quantity of cannabis and a pepper spray was recovered. A 31-year-old man is helping police with inquiries.

Neighbourhood Inspector Grant Dawson said: “As part of the 12 streets campaign we are determined to improve the quality of life for residents and make the area an even safer place to live and work.

“There’s no place for drug use or supply in the community and when we receive information we will take positive action against those suspected of being involved.

“Drugs cause misery in communities and the people targeting the vulnerable and most at risk with drugs supply will be identified and dealt with.

“The public are our eyes and ears in the community and we will always act on what is passed to us, as this demonstrates.

“Anyone who has information about suspected crime and disorder in their community can speak with their local officers, anonymously if necessary.”

Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner, Vera Baird, said: “I welcome this operation which was carried out in response to concerns raised by local people, and I hope this successful police activity will reassure residents that work is being done to tackle the issues that affect them. As a result of this operation, officers have removed drugs from the streets of Blyth and targeted those people involved in drug-related crime.

“I am committed to ensuring that police will focus relentlessly on the people causing harm in our communities – in particular those involved in the supply of illegal drugs. I am confident that through this campaign and Operation Merlin, there will be many further success stories that will have a positive impact for our communities in Blyth.”
