New Volunteer Police Cadets have been welcome into Northumbria Police, as the youngsters took their oath at an attestation ceremony in North Tyneside.
The Volunteer Police Cadet scheme has been running since 2010 and gives young people the opportunity to get involved in policing as well as gain valuable life skills.
Last week, 18 young people were sworn in as volunteer cadets at an event organised by Special Constable Kyle Brewis from the force’s Special Constabulary.
SC Brewis said: “The cadets joined the scheme a few months ago and have already covered a range of topics such as crime prevention, policing skills and knowledge, the structure of the force, community engagement and team exercises.
“Over the next couple of months we will be supporting community events, engaging with the public and helping to establish the needs of our communities.”
