POLITICS: Ask about funding cuts

I have just spent several minutes reading the political rhetoric of the leader of Northumberland Conservatives’ letter, (News Post Leader, January 14).

He quite obviously sees no merit in relocating County Hall from Morpeth to Ashington.

I don’t want to argue one way or the other. I only want him to spend his time productively helping the people of Northumberland.

I only wish him instead to take the time to write a similar letter to his government asking why it has taken over £150m away from residents in Northumberland.

At the same time, ask why it is taking away a further £100m over the next four years.

He could also ask why the fire brigade doesn’t get funding to assist the community when flooding occurs, why we the residents have to pay.

Then when he’s finished writing, he might take the time to write to us and ask why he doesn’t want local services delivered locally to local people in the market towns.

Stop playing politics and advocating even more money is spent unnecessarily and get your government to listen to the communities that are daily suffering through their austerity measures.
