Search for new Alnwick town councillors begins after two resignations

Alnwick Town Council is searching for two new councillors.

It follows the resignation of George Mavin (Clayport ward) and Robbie Moore (Hotspur ward).

Mayor Lynda Wearn said: “I have written to both of them to thank them for their contribution to the town council and wish them well in their new ventures, George on his move and Robbie on his election to parliament.”

It is understood Northumberland County Council plans to tie in its election with those for the Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner in May.

“We will start our process and if that ties in with May there will be just one election for two town councillors, one county councillor and a police and crime commissioner,” explained Coun Wearn.
