A NEW president has began her year of leading the ladies at Morpeth Soroptimists.
Trish Walker, who has been a soroptimist for the past four years, has selected a programme of art and music as her theme.
Her first speaker for the year was Sue Dormer, a teacher at the Percy Hedley School, sharing her passion for how the arts help deliver the curriculum to pupils with special needs.
President Trish said: “It is a privilege to be president in our 62nd year.
“I was invited to join the Soroptimists four years ago and feel very much involved in its projects within the community of Morpeth, our involvement in regional activities and events and in Soroptimist International world wide commitments.
“I will be hosting a number of events during the year including an art exhibition at Hepscott Village hall on June 28.
“The charity that I am supporting this year is the Alzheimer’s Society, we are very fortunate to have a local office in Morpeth and I am delighted to be able to help and support such a worthwhile cause.
“As women in the community we have a voice and we have opportunity to be involved in projects that can make a difference.”
The club meets twice monthly on a Tuesday evening at the Golf Club in Morpeth, for more information visit www.morpeth-soroptimists.org or email firstname.lastname@example.org
