Primary school gets a defibrillator

A useful device that saves lives is now in place at Northburn Primary School in Cramlington.

The funding for the defibrillator was provided by Coun Wayne Daley.

It will add to the school’s already extensive first aid expertise, with many staff holding a first aid certificate.

The device talks to a user once switched on to ensure key steps can be easily followed.

Janet Smith, who also did the training, said: “I was surprised by how easy it was to use.

“The defibrillator is a vital resource as it increases the chance of saving someone who has stopped breathing.”
