Staff at a pub are hoping patrons dig deep during a week-long fundraising event.
The Hastings, in Seaton Delaval, is holding various activities to raise money for Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care, which transports cancer patients to hospital appointments.
To kick start the week on Wednesday, August 3, landlord Peter Evans will be spending a day as a volunteer in an ambulance.
For the rest of the week he’ll be taking up customers’ daft challenges in return for donations.
Also on August 3, it will be bring a vicar to work day, with vicar Juliet Stephenson serving drinks behind the bar.
On Saturday, August 8, there will be a cider and sausage festival with specially created sausages flavour matched to complement the pub’s ciders provided by the pub’s local supplier, The Northumberland Sausage Company.
Among the dishes will be a strawberry jam bratwurst to go with the newly launched Pomegranate and Strawberry Old Mout cider and an Apple, Cherry and Blueberry Pork Sausage to eat with Strongbow Dark Fruits.
There will also be raffles, tombola, domino cards, live music and more.
Peter said: “The charity is very dear to our hearts as we first came across it the day we came to view the pub. They do a fantastic job helping people at a difficult time in their lives.
“Last year we held a one day fundraiser which suffered from the weather, so this year we’ve decided to hedge our bets and make it a week-long event with a target of raising £1,500.
“This together with events we hold throughout the year should put us on track to double the £3,100 we raised for the charity between June 2014 and June 2015.”
