Youngsters at a Cramlington school swapped their uniforms for aprons as they became chefs for the day.
The Year 6 children from Eastlea Primary School attended a special Chef School at the Toby Carvery in Shiremoor.
After donning their personalised chef hats, the children took part in a variety of workshops investigating different fruits and vegetables
They took part in a packed timetable to help them learn more about healthy eating that combined demonstrations, discussions and the all-important tasting.
Class teacher Vicki Coleby said: “Although the children thoroughly enjoyed all of the morning activities, the highlight of the visit was the lunch, as they helped themselves from the carvery deck.
“This was a new and exciting visit for my class which fitted into our school focus on healthy lifestyles.
“It was not only a fun, informative and educational visit but was also a very tasty experience too.”
