Students in Bedlington have been delving into the past to learn more about the town.
Bedlingtonshire Community High School joined Leading Link to look at Bedlington through the years, as part of a Big Heritage Lottery Funded (HLF) project.
As part of the project, a group of students worked with local artist Niki Ackhurst to make their own school banner, which was carried down Bedlington’s Front Street by two students from the school as part of a re-enactment of the old Miner’s Picnic parades, at the Big Event 2.
A Level music students were also involved in putting together The Big Bedlington Song, working with songwriter Frances Lynch.
Assistant headteacher Stephanie Pritchard said: “The students have been so enthused by the concept and the visits from professionals.
“They all worked really hard to ensure that the day was a success.”
