students had a ball as they got out their glad rags for their school’s first prom evening.
More than 100 Year 11 students at Bede Academy in Blyth partied into the night to celebrate the end of their GCSE exams.
The event, organised by English teacher Vicki Alsop and student committee members, saw the academy’s main hall transformed into a party venue.
“It’s taken over four months to get everything ready for this evening but it has all been worth it,” said Miss Alsop.
“This is our first Year 11 group to have completed their secondary education at Bede since the academy opened in 2009, so the ball is a very special occasion.”
Student committee member Adam Smith, 16, of Blyth, added: “This is the last time we will all be together as a year group, and this is a great way to say goodbye.”
