Primary schoolchildren have been awarded with a highly commended in an award scheme.
Youngsters from Mowbray Primary School regularly complete litter picks within their school and surrounding areas, thanks to their work with an attached Forest School.
And now the pupils have been awarded with Highly Commended in the Love Northumberland Awards for their efforts.
Forest school leader Harriet Ogglesby said: “The Forest School is dedicated to teaching children about respect for the environment, land is a resource that supports the development of all children within the school in an exciting outdoor environment.
“The topic for KS2 was about their local environment, and a litter pick was arranged for children to learn about rubbish.
“The children also took part in England’s Great Litter Count 2014, a national survey collecting data about the most littered brands.”
