Youngsters at Cragside Church of England Primary School were set a 100 Book Challenge by their teachers to promote a love of reading.

A number of pupils signed up to take part, which saw them read a vast array of exciting books, covering a range of subjects and stories.

At the end of the initiative the high-flying readers were presented with soaring balloons in a special assembly.

Year 5 teacher Laura-Beth Mayhew said: “We love reading at Cragside Church of England Primary School and we are always keen to celebrate the reading success of our young scholars.

“No challenge is too great for our high-flying readers.”
