Pupils set to help out
Pupils will be putting their community first in a new volunteering initiative.
Bedlington Community High School welcomed a team from Vinspired in London to explain how the scheme was to work with Year 9 students to help them get involved in volunteering.
The programme awards certificates for the number of hours the youngsters give up, which can be added to a portfolio for job, college or university applications.
The team provided information on the opportunities available to volunteer in school and the community, including the chance to apply for £500 to start a community project.
A select group of Year 9 pupils also attended a workshop to find out how they could become school ambassadors for volunteering.
