More than 100 pupils from a county primary school have put on their running shoes in aid of a local hospice.
A total of 126 youngsters from Shanklea Primary School in Cramlington took part in the Bupa Mini and Junior Great North Run, riaising £2,858.54 for St Oswald’ Hospice.
Jade Martin, Year 2 teacher and PE co-ordinator, said: “We chose St Oswald’s as it’s a fantastic charity to support.
“The young people that benefit are of similar age to the pupils of Shanklea, which motivates them to take part.
“This is the second year running we have supported the hospice – the support and enthusiasm of the team at St Oswald’s matches ours at Shanklea.
“We are very lucky to have a fantastic school community which enables us to work together and support each other.”
