Push for housing workforce
A house construction company has joined a national campaign to bring more people into the industry.
Persimmon Homes North East, which has development sites across the region, has signed up to the Home Builders’ Skills Partnership’s Attract campaign.
The push aims to get more young people, those changing career and former armed forces personnel into housing jobs.
John Eynon, managing director of Persimmon Homes North East, said: “The government estimates that the UK needs to build 300,000 new homes every year to keep up with national demand and at Persimmon there are many ways to contribute to that target.”
The campaign will focus on attracting new entrants into the industry and on providing focussed training to develop a qualified workforce.
John added: “There are career opportunities at all levels in our land and planning, construction, sales, finance and technical teams.
“Employees at all levels are part of the Persimmon family and enjoy a real sense that their personal contribution is making a difference to the company and its customers.”
