Putting down roots for woodland
Northumberland Wildlife Trust is calling on members of the public to help it improve and expand what remains of the region's precious wooded areas by supporting its Woodland Wonders Appeal.
Northumberland is one of the counties with the least remaining areas of native trees. The Trust is working to restore woodland and improve existing areas.
At Northumberlandia, it has been offered the rare opportunity to introduce nature, as well as landscape-scale art, to a wide range of people, but to do this it needs to manage the existing woodland by removing some mature trees to let light in to the woodland floor and by replanting with native trees and shrubs.
This will improve the value to wildlife and create more nature moments that last a lifetime.
