The annual summer party in Hirst Park, organised by the Heart of the Hirst Tenant and Resident Group, saw plenty on offer.

There were 22 market stalls, bouncy castles, face-painters, sand artists and free food. A dog show saw visitors from outside the area come to take part.

A spokesperson for Heart of the Hirst said: “The party came together to bring some fun to the people of Ashington and to show that a group of volunteers can put on a good party with the help of the local residents and other local volunteers.

“Heart of the Hirst would like to thank everybody who came to support our party.

“We are looking forward to holding a Christmas market at the Hirst Park in December.”

Film stars were among the visitors at the fair.
