Quad biker who died in Blyth crash is named

Officers investigating a fatal collision on the Spine Road have named the man who died.

Jamie Briggs, 18, of Delaval Crescent in Blyth, died after a collision on the Spine Road A189 northbound, with the junction of Moorland Avenue in Bedlington at 6.45am on Tuesday, September 23.

Jamie Briggs was driving a quad bike, which for reasons yet to be established rolled over, and he was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance staff.

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses, in particular officers want to speak to the woman driver of a grey coloured car, possibly a Seat, who may have witnessed the incident and briefly stopped at the scene.

Any witnesses to this collision are asked to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 158 of 23/09/14.

A statement from the family of Jamie Briggs, says: “The whole family, his girlfriend and friends miss Jamie very much already. He was a loving son and a cherished friend.

“Jamie was a young man who loved life and lived it to the full. He always had a smile on his face and was one in a million.

“We will miss Jamie so much but his memory will live on and he will always be remembered for the amazing person he was.”
