A young heart transplant patient from south east Northumberland has been invited to attend a week of ski and snow fun in Switzerland next month.
Rachel Hooley, ten, from Cramlington, will be three years post-heart transplant on February 10, and will celebrate her birthday on February 26, will celebrate with a trip to Tackers.
Ten transplant children aged from ten to 15, will travel to the mountains to Switzerland as part of Tackers International Ski Camp, where they will join 34 other children who have received new organs from across the globe.
Rachel is one of five of the team who had their heart transplants at the transplant centre at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle.
Rachel said: “I can’t wait to go and ski and have lots of fun, living my life to the full, in memory of my donor.”
