Care home workers have helped raise hundreds of pounds for charity.

Staff from The Oaks Care Home in Blyth spent two days in the town’s Morrisons store with collection buckets in aid of the Stroke Association.

They raised £442, boosting the total to £542 with a raffle and collections at the care home.

Paige Gallagher, activities co-ordinator, said: “We just wanted to do our bit to help the Stroke Association as it does brilliant work.”

Ann Mielnik, home manager, added: “We’d like to thank everyone who donated prizes and bought tickets for the home’s Stroke Association raffle, as well as those who dropped money into our collection buckets at Morrisons.

“We’d also like to say a big thank you to the supermarket for helping us collect in store.”
