Hundreds of bikes have been recycled and given a new lease of life thanks to charity volunteers.

WATBike has recycled more than 200 bikes in six months since launching the WATBike Recycle workshop in West Sleekburn.

Cycle development manager Colin Hall said: “We are delighted that we have saved over 200 local bikes from landfill. Half of them have been repaired and sold locally, with all proceeds going to our charity.

“We have smashed our original target of 150 bikes and want to say a big thank you for the fantastic support from everyone who has donated bikes and to our volunteers.”
