Sainsbury’s Cramlington is providing specially-designed facilities for customers to recycle all of the packaging from their Easter eggs.

The facility can handle card and paper, as well as rigid plastic, which many kerbside collections cannot accept.

Sainsbury’s head of sustainability, engineering, energy and environment Paul Crewe said: “This is the second year we’ve rolled the scheme out in our larger supermarkets and we’ve had a really positive response from our customers and colleagues.

“Recycling is an important part of Sainsbury’s environmental commitment and the Christmas card and Easter egg recycling schemes have been really popular in the past.”

The facility will be available in the Manor Walks store until Tuesday, April 12.
