A group of pub regulars have taken on a 187-mile ride to raise thousands of pounds for charity.
The Delaval Arms Backpedalers undertook the Coast to Coast cycle ride in 2013, followed by the Hadrian’s Cycleway in 2014, and this year the 17-strong team took on the gruelling Coast and Castles route.
The team cycled the 187 miles from Edinburgh to the Delaval Arms in Seaton Sluice over three days, raising money for the Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care charity.
Brian Burnie said: “Daft as a Brush Cancer Patient Care was chosen because it is a local charity carrying out important work in the north east transporting cancer patients to and from hospital.
“We are keen to try and help them continue by raising sponsorship money to help buy an new ambulance for the Great North Children’s Hospital based at the RVI.
“This ambulance will be used to transport children that have cancer plus their families from across the four northern counties to the RVI.”
