Residents give their views on housing plans

Residents have had their say on outline plans for a new housing development in the county.

Around 60 people attended a community event to introduce Banks Property’s proposed Chapel View residential scheme, which would sit on an eight hectare site south of the B1326 and the east of the A189.

The scheme would include approximately 200 two-storey homes for families and first time buyers, as well as areas of informal green space, and would sit to the east of Cramlington’s new specialist Emergency Care Hospital.

Mark Dowdall, environment and community director at The Banks Group, said: “We set up our exhibition trailer in East Cramlington to make it easy for local people to come to meet us and to talk about our plans, and we’re very pleased with both the number of people who did just that, and with the generally positive response that we had from them about what we’re looking to do in their community.

“We’ll be taking all these ideas in to account as we finalise the detail of our scheme design.”

A planning application is expected to be submitted before the end of the year.
