Residents going potty for plants
Green-fingered residents have been putting their gardening skills on show at a Northumberland care home.
Afternoon gardening sessions were arranged at Scarbrough Court in Cramlington last month to enable residents to dig into a healthy activity.
Beautiful primroses were planted in colourful flower pots to spruce up the outside areas.
Activities co-ordinator Maureen Rolf said: “Contact with nature and animals plays an important role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our residents.
“Getting outside in the fresh air when the sun shines and doing some gardening helps residents to stay active and lifts the spirits.”
She added: “Those who used to have a house with a garden especially loved taking part in these sessions and reminiscing about the flowers they planted in their own gardens.”
