Residents’ views heard

In regards to the article, ‘Residents brand plans for 286 new homes ‘ridiculous’ (News Post Leader, May 21), the council is obliged to follow procedure on planning applications and we apply the same principles of assessment and due diligence to every proposal that is submitted to us.

In the case of the application by Barratt Homes North East, we are fulfilling our duties according to legal requirements and working with the developer.

At the same time, we are listening to concerns of local people who have strong feelings about the proposed scheme for 286 homes on land to the edge of the village.

I am working with the other two parish councillors to ensure that residents’ views are heard and understood.

We are following a legal process and we are determined to get the best resolution for everyone.
