The search is on for a South East Northumberland Indian restaurant looking to curry favour in a national competition.
Each year parliament’s Tiffin Club for MPs keen on curries holds a contest to celebrate the best of South Asian cuisine nationwide, and Wansbeck representative Ian Lavery is urging restaurants in his constituency to enter.
Every MP gets the chance to put forward one restaurant from their constituency, and 10 are shortlisted as finalists to compete for the Tiffin Cup by taking part in a cook-in at Bellamy’s Restaurant in London’s Westminster.
The winner will be presented with the cup by the Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, and all proceeds will go to the World Vision charity.
Nominations should be emailed to Mr Lavery at firstname.lastname@example.org by Monday, July 13.
“The restaurant with the most votes will be the one I choose to represent Wansbeck in the competition,” said the MP.
“If constituents have a favourite South Asian restaurant, this is their chance to nominate it to represent Wansbeck and perhaps be named as the best in the country.”
