Retail park proposals go on show

A PUBLIC exhibition is being held this week to keep shoppers in the picture about plans to revamp a retail park.

Property developer Hammerson, owner of Cramlington’s Manor Walks shopping centre, is putting its plans to revitalise the nearby Westmorland Retail Park on display.

Proposals for a redevelopment including the creation of four new retail units will be on show opposite Phones 4u and Boots in Manor Walks on Friday from noon to 5pm and on Saturday from 10am to 2pm.

Members of the project team will be available to talk through the proposals and answer questions from shoppers.

Project director John Grinnell said: “Last month, Hammerson submitted planning applications to invest in a new nine-screen cinema and major refurbishment of South Mall, creating a range of new family restaurants.

“The latest proposals, for four new shops, are the next stage of improvements to the town centre and will act as a stepping stone for further investment.

“As well as ensuring greater competition and customer choice, the proposals will create a large number of jobs and a range of new training opportunities for the community.”

Hammerson has also set up a community information line open from 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday on 0800 652 3367.
