Road improvements expected to take four weeks

Essential roadworks in Cramlington are now under way and expected to take four weeks.

The work, on the C366 from Shotton Edge to Fisher Lane, is to resurface the road and will be carried out during normal working hours.

Northumberland County Council said it will also repair a collapsed culvert and carry out drainage improvements as part of the work to improve the road network.

The road is a popular commuter route and the council say it will keep disruption to a minimum and diversions will be clearly signposted, although motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journey.

The road will re-open every evening with the exception of the weekend of Friday, July 19, to Sunday, July 21, when it will be closed from midnight to 7am for the resurfacing works to be carried out in the immediate vicinity of Northumberlandia and the Snowy Owl.

Access to the Snowy Owl pub will always be maintained.

The improvement works will cost an estimated £400,000.
