A rugby league club is making a last minute appeal for votes to win £25,000 in a national competition.
Cramlington Rockets are in the running to win the cash grant from the Aviva Community Foundation, if they can get enough votes.
With voting taking place throughout May, the Rockets have seen supporters take them past 4,000 votes, but they are still a long way short of their 15,000 target.
If successful, the grant will be used to transform the work they do in the local area, expanding the community department it launched in September 2014.
Community manager Steve Beaty said: “Our aim is to engage 10,000 local people in our first year and though things are going well, everything we do has been on a modest budget.
“If successful, it would allow us to improve and expand what we offer immeasurably and allow us to really make a difference in the community.
“We really need the backing of all the north east and sporting communities.
“That minute it takes to vote could make all the difference.” To vote visit https://community-fund.aviva.co.uk/voting/project/view/2461, then ‘Register or log in’ and vote.
