A Northumberland teenager has been given the chance of a lifetime to sail on a Tall Ship.
Ross Bell, who attends Stryke Karate at the Buffalo Community Centre in Blyth, has been offered a trip on the Captain Cook.
The 17-year-old has been training with Stryke for four years and is currently a 1st Dan Black Belt.
He supports the running of the karate sessions at the Buffalo Centre by helping teach other young people in the sport, take part in karate demonstrations, promote the project to the wider community, help set up the sessions and act as a good responsible role model for others in the club.
Northumberland Association of Young People’s Clubs offered the trip to the centre.
Centre manager, Eileen Cartie, said: “This change fits in quite well with Ross as he is undertaking a course in travel and tourism at college and everyone here at the centre is delighted this young man has been offered a place.”
