ROUNDABOUT: It's still not resolved
I am presuming that the promised '˜improvements' to the roundabout on Laverock Hall Road have been completed, although it is hard to tell as the road still does not flow correctly.
If you are travelling west, the only way to stay in your designated lane when going straight on is to drive ridiculously slowly. At a normal speed, you cannot help but drive into the right-hand lane, such is the layout.
When the ‘new’ Laverock Hall Road was built, the national speed limit applied and it had a definitive camber to allow traffic to negotiate the main bend in the road, just where the pedestrian crossing was so thoughtfully placed.
The new roundabout has been put at the same location so it is hardly surprising that the flow of the road has been so badly undermined.
Surely some more thought is needed and perhaps the planners could try driving through the roundabout themselves to see just what a mess it has become.
