A Cramlington school has been recognised for its commitment to sport.
Eastlea Primary School is one of just six schools in Northumberland to be awarded the Gold Kitemark for School Games 2013 to 2014.
Headteacher Emma Beeston said: “We are over the moon to have been awarded the Gold Kitemark.
“Having got silver the year before we had set ourselves the goal of achieving gold within the next two years – so to do so after only one year is fantastic.
“We recognise the value of sports for all children and encourage as many pupils as possible to take part and enjoy participating.
“We try to take up every opportunity we are offered and as a result we are well represented at all the town and area events.
“We may have smaller numbers than other schools but we have great enthusiasm and commitment for sport at Eastlea.”
