Coaches looking to help develop young rugby league talent are being sought by a local team.

Following their decision to create a new community development section, Cramlington Rockets are moving fast to strengthen their ranks and are looking for part-time community coaches.

Rugby league has grown in popularity in recent years and the club are looking to build on that, appointing Steven Beaty as new community development manager.

He said: “The work we will be doing in Cramlington and further afield will be a huge boost for the sport in the region.

“We are aiming to engage thousands of children, something unheard of five years ago in this part of the world.

“We have always been truly humbled by the enthusiasm for rugby league and it was a big part of why we relocated as a club several years ago.”

Successful applicants – who must hold a CRB or DBS and have a Level 2 coaching qualification – will be asked to deliver sessions in both primary and secondary schools in the local area.

Steven added: “These roles are perfect for either a more experienced coach or a younger coach, looking to take their first steps onto the coaching ladder.

“It is important to the club that whoever is appointed really understands what the club is all about and can help us in our vision to create a legacy of rugby league.”
