A Cramlington care home resident has shared the secret of enjoying a long life as she turned 102.
Beattie Godrey, a resident at RMBI care home Scarbrough Court in Cramlington, has celebrated her 102nd Birthday with family, friends and staff at the care home.
Born in Cramlington and having lived there her whole life, Beattie married twice and had one son.
During her working life, she was a nurse and also looked after children who had been evacuated during the war.
A keen piano player, Beattie says her long life is because of her love for music.
“I have been playing the piano since I was 11 years old,” she said.
“It has brought me so much comfort over the years.”
The home hosts regular creative and art based activities to support residents’ wellbeing from musical performances, to drama, arts and crafts.
Beattie performed some of her favourite songs on the piano for guests during her birthday celebrations whilst they enjoyed cake and tea, and sang along to the music.
