A woman had a sentimental locket stolen during an attempted bag snatch.

The 44-year-old woman had been walking in Newsham Road, Blyth, when a man on a bike approached her and tried to grab her bag.

The woman struggled and the man was unable to take the bag, however he did grab and steal a locket that the woman was wearing around her neck.

The locket is silver, heart shaped and has three paw prints on it. Inside is a photo of a ginger cat.

The offender is described as being white, in his early 20s, of thin/medium build and with brown hair.

He was wearing a sky blue hooded top and blue jeans. He was riding a black BMX bike.

Police are appealing for information on the incident which happened at 5.30pm on Friday, June 26.
