A new free service to help carers in Northumberland resolve troubling issues has been launched.
Ashington-based Serrac Limited, is a social enterprise with the aim of bringing together service professionals with carers and other to address the problems faced when accident or ill health leaves a family member needing care.
Kev Whittaker, business development manager for Serrac, said: “In Northumberland alone there are over 35,000 people looking after others either full or part time, and the number is set to grow.
“Serrac was set up to provide a way of putting those in need of help in touch with legal, financial and other service professionals who share Serrac’s social and ethical conscience at a time when they need help most.
“We focus our service on the particular needs of carers but it is also free to anyone in Northumberland whop may be able to benefit from it.”
Sharon Spurling, chief executive officer of Carers Northumberland, added: “We fully support Serrac and welcome their work in Nortrhumberland.”
