A health service is to move to a new ‘modern facility’ to help provide easier access for patients.
Northumberland Sexual Health Service, run by Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, is relocating its headquarters from Carlton Street in Blyth to the new Morpeth Clinic in Gas House Lane in Morpeth.
The move will bring back into use a former GP surgery building which was originally damaged in the Morpeth floods in 2008.
The clinic – set to open on February 27 – will provide office space for healthcare professionals who run sexual health services across the county and will become a training venue for GP and community nursing staff.
Dr Oluseyi Hotonu, consultant in integrated sexual health at the service, said: “We are delighted to bring the building back into use and improve access to a wider range of sexual health services under one roof for Northumberland residents in this new modern facility.
“The move to the Morpeth premises is a direct result of patients’ feedback and better transport links to this county-wide service.”
The trust will be holding a drop-in session for residents on February 26, from 6pm to 8pm at the Morpeth Clinic for people to meet the team and see the facilities.
