On Monday, August 4, Cramlington Town Council, all the churches and the British Legion of Cramlington came together to hold a service to mark the outbreak of the First World War.
It was a very moving service well attended by the residents of Cramlington.
The service started in a packed St Nicholas Church and then went to the war memorial in the village square for the ‘Lights Out’ event, where we were joined by many more people.
I would like to thank The Green and The Blagdon Arms for joining in by switching off their lights.
Sadly The Village Club did not and left the lights on, but it did not spoil the effect of the switch off.
Thank You to Doreen for your hard work, and all who took part, it was a very moving tribute.
