It is with great sadness that we hear of the Age UK local friendship line being wound-up.
Dot and the volunteers have literally been a lifeline to people isolated at home.
They telephoned and gave sustenance to many an ill person, listening sympathetically to people’s fads, fancies and moans; many a blind person recovering from surgery felt better talking to these great people.
Me? I just sounded off to them, got rid of my frustrations, trying to put the world to rights.
Dot, Sally, for eight years you’ve looked after us very well with your telephone line, you will be a great miss.
