Residents at a Cramlington care home are benefiting from a donation of gardening products.

Staff at the town’s Sainsbury’s store donated more than £300 worth of seeds and flowers to Jane Percy House, a disabled home at the Brockwell, to kick-start a gardening club for the residents.

Community champion Melanie Wright said: “We went down to Jane Percy House to see if we could help them in any way.

“They seem to have a keen interest in gardening, so we decided to donate vegetable seeds, sunflower seeds, Gladioli and herbs to kick-start them with their gardening club.

“All the residents there were thrilled to bits, as were the staff.”
