SHOW: An amazing tribute

Myself and my family would like to say a huge thank you to Maurice Dobson and the Blyth Music and Theatre Company for their amazing musical tribute to my brother Alf Douglas.

Alf passed away on January 27 and tragically, four hours later, his daughter Sandra passed away too.

The show featured some of Alf’s favourites, such as Some Enchanted Evening, performed by the wonderful Kyle Richardson, and Michael Douglas sang from Calamity Jane, another of Alf’s favourites.

As president of the Blyth Music and Theatre Company Alf enjoyed being part of a wonderful group of talented performers.

Their huge talent was reflected on the evening, with more than 25 performances of some of the best foot-tapping songs from popular musicals.

Whilst rehearsing for their performance of Made In Dagenham, the news of Alf’s death broke, and when it was suggested to stage this performance to honour Alf they all rose to the challenge and worked their socks off to give Alf this glorious musical tribute.

Many of the group recalled wonderful stories of Alf and it was very touching to hear of his hilarious escapades and how he has left many happy memories of his time with the company.

The proceeds of the night raised £3,000, which will go to Cancer Research UK.

Many thanks also to Jackie Grey, the show director, and John Hudson, the musical director. Sincere thanks.
