Representatives from the six businesses, Business Northumberland and NEC prepare for SubCon in June.

The companies have been successful in securing fully funded exhibition space at SubCon, taking place at the NEC Birmingham in June.

More than 350 different suppliers from over 20 countries will attend the major industry conference, giving the Northumberland businesses an opportunity to showcase themselves on an international scale.

Business Northumberland, who are funding the exhibition space, opened up the application process to all small to medium sized manufacturing businesses across the county before selecting Advanced Barrier Coatings, of Blyth; Bedlington-based Falon Nameplates; Cramlington’s Hindley Circuits and North Eastern Composites; Ashington-based Scarab4 and SWP Engineering, of Berwick; to represent the region.

Richard Wearmouth, Chair of Arch said: “We have a strong manufacturing sector in Northumberland and it’s great to see that illustrated through these six businesses.

“They all bring something different to the table so we will be able to demonstrate the variety of opportunities within Northumberland and showcase the county as a great place to do business.”

Bill Parkin, managing director of SWP Engineering, said: “We would like to thank Business Northumberland for the opportunity to attend SubCon and we are looking forward to attending the event alongside the other businesses. Together, we can increase exposure for Northumberland and all the fantastic work that we do.”

The Business Northumberland programme is delivered by a team of experts, who provide businesses with 1-2-1 support, to help them to understand their growth needs and implement an action plan to achieve their growth aspirations. It also runs a diverse variety of workshops across the county.

Business Northumberland is match funded by the England European Regional Development Fund and Arch, so there is no cost to eligible businesses.

The £1.3m funding secured for Business Northumberland includes Arch’s own funds and match funding of £698,599 received from the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.
