Staff hop to it for kids
Building society staff are hopping to it with an appeal for chocolate Easter egg donations for underprivileged children.
The team at the Newcastle Building Society’s branch at Manor Walks Shopping Centre, Cramlington, is backing a campaign set up by The Salvation Army to ensure that young people whose families might not be able to afford to buy any Easter chocolate have something to enjoy over the holidays.
Donations at the branch will be accepted up to today (Wednesday), with the eggs being distributed in time for the Easter weekend.
The team’s support for the Salvation Army’s appeal is part of the Newcastle’s ongoing Cornerstone of the Community campaign.
Kelly Beattie, manager at the Cramlington branch, said: “Giving something back to the communities in which we operate is an essential part of our character as a mutual organisation, and this is a simple way for local people to put smiles on the faces of underprivileged children over Easter.
“We always get great support from our customers and the wider community for the charity activities we undertake, and we’ll hopefully have a lot of eggs to hand over when the Easter Bunny comes to collect them next week.”
