Plans for one of Northumberland’s biggest family fun days are being finalised.

The Big Event 4, organised by charity Leading Link, will take place on Saturday, June 20, at Atlee Park in Bedlington, between noon and 5pm.

The day will feature children’s fun fair rides, a sizzling summer BBQ, ice cream, hot donuts and candy floss, an enterprise market of local businesses and organisations, including local enterprise Sugarushed rock, The Frock Exchange and VUE Cinema in Cramlington, as well as circus skill performers and traditional fun fair games including a coconut shy, The Big Raffle and more.

There will also be laser quaser, mini-golf and BMX, pony rides, a children’s fun corner and live entertainment on the bandstand all day, including the final of the eighth annual Northumberland’s Got Talent competition.

There will be a Children’s University marquee, where Passport holders from across Northumberland can accumulate hours and collect stamps at free taster sessions, including circus skills, art and karate.

Lyn Horton, manager of Leading Link, said: “The Big Event is always the perfect opportunity to invite all members of the community to celebrate everything that this fantastic area has to offer.

“There are so many different activities, businesses, charities and causes involved, there is guaranteed to be something for everyone.”

On the evening of June 20, Attlee Park will play host to ‘The Big Outdoor Cinema’, which will see the former Northumberland Miner’s Picnic venue transformed into an open air cinema for one night only showing Grease, with build-up to the film from 8pm.
