A PRETTY youngster from Seghill is aiming to show she also has brains as well as beauty.
Stephanie Hewson is in the running to be the Face of Newcastle, and with it land a place in a European final and take part in a Disney Beauty pageant.
The 25-year-old is now looking for help from local people and businesses to make her dream come true.
The Face of Newcastle regional heat will be held on October 21, with the overall winner going on to represent the north east in the grand final of the Face of Europe 2011.
The girl receiving the highest amount of votes, will win the “Miss People’s Choice” award and be guaranteed a place in the final eight, which will consist of; Miss Peoples Choice (chosen by text and phone votes) Miss Charity (awarded to the girl who raises the highest amount for the competition’s two charities), Miss Photogenic (chosen by the judges) plus five other finalists selected by judges.
The final eight will each give a speech on stage for the judges to decide their overall winner.
Stephanie, who studied business, fashion and is also a qualified hairdresser before moving into a sales career, said: “I’ve entered face of Newcastle this year as I think it’s something every young woman should do.
“You can show case not only your beauty but also your brains and allow your personality to shine, while feeling like a princess.”
Stephanie is sponsored by A-Spec plumbing and heating, and is now asking for the public to get behind her and get voting for her to win the title.
“I really want to show young girls pageants aren’t all just about looks, it’s beauty and brains,” she said.
“I want to also show off my home village and claim the title, but I need all the support I can get and would appreciate so much if people can send a text vote in for me.”

The Face of Europe finals will be held in Paris on December 8, with the winners receiving model contracts, photo shoots, and the chance to experience Disney’s first beauty pageant.
