Zuenziga hair salon, in Front Street, Bedlington, has been getting into the swing of things with creative director Rob Wood and his stylists producing Eighties hairstyles, including two for Emily Young and Coun Val Tyler.

Emily said: “What I loved about the Eighties was that people really enjoyed dressing up and having fun! Not like today, where people are a bit too serious, and don’t seem to know how to let their hair down.

“I’m really looking forward to Northumberland Live at Bedlington as it gives the town a chance to be centre stage, and attract visitors from all over the north east.”

Coun Tyler, cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture at the county council, said: “Northumberland Live will harness Bedlington’s warm community spirit that is ever present in the town.

“The residents and local groups like to embrace events of this nature as they enable friends and family to come together and have fun.

“There will be something for everyone to enjoy from music to street theatre.

“Northumberland Live at Bedlington promises to be a wonderful family day out for everyone.”

Rob Wood, creative director at Zuenziga, said: “The salon has always felt part of the local community as we’ve grown and grown out of the kind support from our regulars. It’s really nice to see something like Northumberland Live at Bedlington coming to the town and giving something special for people to enjoy.

“Our stylists have been swatting up on the Eighties hairstyles of the day, to try an emulate the sassy cuts of that era in pop music and fashion. Our Bedlington hair models will want to dance out of the salon, all the way to Gallagher Park ready for Northumberland Live!”

Northumberland Live at Bedlington is also working closely with local charity, Leading Link – who aim to provide young people with real life opportunities including business and enterprise, through a diverse range of activities.
